Catalyst:Ed has evolved and grown, and so have you.
Provider renewal will enable you to update your information. We also see this moment as an opportunity for us to clarify expectations and renew our commitments to each other as participants in this ecosystem.

The Renewal Process

Before You Start
At the heart of the renewal process is a reaffirmation of the vision, values, and principles guiding how we see ourselves engaging with each other and leveraging our collective capacity to bring about transformational change. We invite you to review the following materials:
Provider Guiding Principles: Our Provider-in-Residence Rasheeda Washington has been convening a diverse group of providers (in terms of identity and expertise) in focus groups to help shape Provider Guiding Principles. We invite you to review the current version here. Email Rasheeda at [email protected] if you have any questions, feedback or concerns. We are currently working on a similar set of Guiding Principles for organizations that seek provider expertise through us, and you can review the current draft here.
Updated competencies: We worked with several providers to help define competencies (these were previously known as “areas of expertise”) and articulate the typical components, outputs, and outcomes associated with each competency. We recommend that you familiarize yourself with these to ensure that the competencies we have associated with you are the right ones. You can review all competencies here.
Catalyst:Ed’s journey: Hear from Leona, Catalyst:Ed’s founder and CEO, as she walks through the organization’s history, how we have evolved over time here, and our vision and ideas for an equitable marketplace (here). This was previously shared during our April Community Call. We also facilitated three Town Halls in April/May to refresh providers on key aspects of our model and answer questions. You can review them here, here and here.
Here’s an overview of the provider renewal process. Please note that all information is due to us by June 20, 2021
Step 1: Network Agreement
You will receive a custom link to this form via email. Don’t receive one? Contact us at [email protected]
Your Network Membership: You’ll start by telling us if you’re interested in continuing in the network.
Organizational affiliation: You’ll let us know about any changes to your organizational structure or affiliation.
Guiding Principles Agreement: You will be asked to agree to the Provider Guiding Principles (here).
Step 2: Profile Update Form
At the end of Step 1, you’ll be able to click a link to continue to Step 2. The link will also be emailed to you.
Profile Review and Update: Information in your profile will be available for you to edit directly. You can review all questions for individuals here, and for teams here.
Competency Review: Look over your competencies and indicate if you’d like to update them. See here for a list of competencies and their definitions.
Step 3: (Optional) Competency Update
You’ll receive this form only if you indicated in Step 2 that you would like to update your competencies.
Apply for new competencies: Tell us what competencies you would like to add and share a bit about your experience and expertise in these areas. You can review all questions for individuals here, and for teams here.
References: Provide three references who can speak to your capabilities in the competency areas you would like to add. We will reach out to your references as soon as you submit this form – all references must be completed by June 20th.
Is provider renewal a reapplication process for me to continue in the Catalyst:Ed network?
No. We are not asking our current provider to reapply to the network. This is a way for us to make sure you’re still interested in continuing with the network, and for us to get your most updated information.
I applied to the network originally in a different capacity (e.g., I now work for a different organization or I am now an independent consultant although I originally applied along with a team). What should I do during renewal?
If you applied as an independent consultant, you can choose to remain in the network as an individual provider. We will continue to send you projects, although you may choose not to respond to any of them. If you applied as part of an organization initially and have now moved to a new organization, we’ll ask you to share details of a new team contact. If you’d like to remain in the network as an independent consultant or through your new organization, we’ll follow up separately with you to let you know how to move forward.
I have gotten to the place where I am reviewing my competencies, and all of them look right — how should I complete the process?
If everything is correct, there will be a question right after where you can select “My listed competencies and groups feel right.” Once you’ve selected that and filled out the rest of the form, you’re done with Renewal! Remember, Provider Renewal is not a “reapplication” for competencies we already have listed for you, just a chance to let us know if anything is missing or incorrect.
When looking over my competencies, the groups are correct but an individual competency checked under a group is incorrect.
If a competency group is right but you have an incorrect competency within it, the question just past competencies has an option where you can select “I would like to remove competencies”. A menu will open for you to click the checkbox next to each competency you want to remove. Once you’ve selected them and filled out the rest of the form, you’re done with Renewal!
I am missing a competency or group that I should have. How should I fill that out?
Adding competencies or groups is how you will move onto the third step of Provider Renewal, in order to provide more information for us on what you’d like to add. The question just past competencies has an option where you can select “I would like to add competencies or groups”. Once you’ve selected that and filled out the rest of the form, you’ll receive an email with an invitation to complete Step 3, which is where you will select the competencies and/or competency groups you want to add.
I need to both add and remove competencies or groups—how can I do that?
You can absolutely do both! There is a question where you’ll be able to select both “I would like to remove competencies” AND “I would like to add competencies or groups”. A menu will open and you can click the checkbox next to each competency you want to remove, then that part is done. After you have filled out the rest of the form, you’ll receive an email with an invitation to complete Step 3, which is where you will select the competencies and/or competency groups you want to add.
I marked that I needed to add competencies or groups while I completed the form, but I no longer need to.
Please email us at [email protected] so we can update the system accordingly. Thank you!
What happens if I decide not to continue in the network?
We would be deeply sorry to see anyone leave the network, but we understand that we may not be the right option for everyone. If you decide not to remain in the network, we would love to learn more through a brief set of questions, but would fully respect your decision and no longer send you projects. You can also decide whether you want to continue receiving other communications such as newsletters.
Do all providers need to complete renewal, even those who are in specific expert hubs and exchanges?
In order to remain in the Catalyst:Ed Network, all providers must complete Part I of the renewal process. This includes the Network Agreement and Profile Update Form. Please note that renewal is not providers re-applying to remain in the network; it is, however, an opportunity for all providers to agree to CE’s guiding principles and provide updated information regarding their practice.
What happens if I do not complete Steps 1 and 2?
If we do not receive completed Steps 1 and 2 from you, we will first check to make sure we have the right contact information from you. If we still don’t hear back from you, we will mark you as “inactive” in our system, and you will no longer send you projects. You can also decide whether you want to continue receiving other communications such as newsletters.
What happens if I do not change my competencies or apply for new ones?
You’re all set! We will assume that the competencies we have on record for you are the most appropriate ones.
Is there a limit to the number of new competencies I can select?
All providers can have up to three competency groups associated with their Catalyst:Ed profile. Each competency group includes multiple competencies that are related to each other, and providers may choose multiple competencies within a competency group.
How will you verify new competencies that I apply for?
We will reach out to your references. A panel of trained peer reviewers from the provider network will review your materials, including your application responses, your work samples, and your references, and make a recommendation to the Catalyst:Ed team.
Am I allowed to reapply for a competency group that I’ve previously been rejected for?
Yes, we recognize that providers are constantly adding new skills and experiences. We strongly recommend providing clear responses, work samples, and references in support of your expertise in any new areas that you apply for.
What happens if references are not completed by the due date?
All references are due on June 20, 2021. If we do not receive a reference that speaks to your specific competencies by then, we will be unable to review your application in full. This means your added competencies will not be validated this cycle. When submitting your competency update application, we recommend giving your references ample time to submit on your behalf.
Will providers have access to updating their information throughout the year?
Following this initial process, providers will be able to access their profile information and update it throughout the year. The Competency Update portion (Step 3), will be available in cycles. We are aiming to have this be available annually; however, that is subject to change.
My question has not been answered. Whom should I contact for further assistance?
Please send any additional questions or inquiries to [email protected] Our team will respond as soon as we can.
